Održan 4. sastanak upravljačkog odbora projekta MELIA Observatory

Sastanak Upravljačkog odbora (SCOM) projekta MELIA Observatory održan je 9. svibnja u Pragu. Taj, 4. sastanak Odbora, organizirao je Metropolitan University Prague, projektni partner iz Republike Češke, a prisustvovali su mu predstavnici svih projektnih partnera.

Na sastanku su predstavljene aktivnosti koje su provedene u 4. periodu projekta te one koje su u planu provedbe u idućem i završnom razdoblju projekta.

U sklopu projekta kreirani su edukativni materijali za jačanje medijske pismenosti učenika osnovnih i srednjih škola te za njihove edukatore, koji će u idućem razdoblju biti testirani putem pilot-projekata u jednoj osnovnoj školi u Njemačkoj i Mađarskoj, zatim u jednoj srednjoj strukovnoj školi u Hrvatskoj i Češkoj te na reprezentativnom uzorku edukatora koji rade s djecom i mladima u Sloveniji i Bugarskoj. Kao podrška ovim aktivnostima testiranje će biti provedeno i u zemljama "Dunavske regije" kao što su Rumunjska, Bosna i Hercegovina, Crna Gora i Ukrajina. Tako dobivene povratne informacije od krajnjih korisnika koristit će se za eventualno poboljšanje alata, te za kreiranje preporuka i smjernica za donositelje politika koje reguliraju edukacije o medijskoj pismenosti u osnovnim i srednjim strukovnim školama te one za medijske edukatore.

Za provedbu pilot-projekta u Hrvatskoj odgovorna je Hrvatska gospodarska komora, partner na projektu, u suradnji s partnerima: Presscut d.o.o. i Visoko učilište Algebra. U Hrvatskoj će testiranje edukativnih materijala za učenike srednje škole biti provedeno u Zdravstvenoj i veterinarskoj školi dr. Andrije Štampara u Vinkovcima, koja je odabrana putem javnog poziva za iskaz interesa. Testiranje će se provesti prema metodologiji koju je Hrvatska gospodarska komora definirala u suradnji s partnerom Metropolitan University Prague, koji je odgovoran za testiranje edukativnih materijala u Republici Češkoj.

Edukativni materijali će u digitalnom obliku biti dostupni na hrvatskom jeziku na web stranici projekta. Radi se o interaktivnim prezentacijama, koje uz pomoć pripadajućeg priručnika poučavaju medijsku pismenost kroz šest različitih tema, kako bi se učenicima osnovnih i srednjih škola omogućila znanja i vještine za razumijevanje medija i sudjelovanje u demokratskom društvu, uključujući civilno društvo i politiku. Teme su:

• Ponašanje na društvenim mrežama;
• Vještine kritičkog razmišljanja;
• Marketing i oglašavanje;
• Vijesti, obmane i dezinformacije;
• Manipulacija i propaganda;
• Politika.

Testiranje u odabranoj školi u Hrvatskoj provest će se početkom školske godine 2022./2023., tako da će se za učenike škole održati edukacije o medijskoj pismenosti prema kurikulumu i uz pomoć materijala kreiranih u projektu. Nakon održanih edukacija, učenici će u upitniku iskazati svoje zadovoljstvo materijalima i edukacijom te ocijeniti vlastiti napredak postignut edukacijama. Nastavnici će dati svoju ocjenu kurikuluma medijske pismenosti kreiranog u sklopu projekta te održanih edukacija i korištenih edukativnih materijala.

U završnom periodu održat će se i završna konferencija u Budimpešti na kojoj će biti prestavljeni rezultati projekta.

Drugoga dana sastanka, 10. svibnja, partnerski konzorcij održao je radionicu o održivosti MELIA observatorija, na kojoj su projektni partneri razmijenili viđenja budućnost ovog projekta nakon njegova završetka. Iznesene ideje bit će podloga za donošenje strategije održivosti MELIA Observatorija, koja će uključivati akcijski plan za budući razvoj observatorija kao važnog regionalnog generatora pozitivnih promjena s ciljem jačanja medijske pismenosti i aktivnog građanstva, pridonijevši demokratskom razvoju u regiji.

4th SCOM meeting of the MELIA Observatory project was held on the 9th of May 2022 in Prague. The meeting was organized by the Metropolitan University of Prague (MUP), a project partner from the Czech Republic, and was attended by representatives of all project partners.

The activities implemented in the fourth period and those planned for implementation in the next period were presented at the meeting.

As part of the project, capacity-building tools on media literacy for youth and youth educators were created. Those tools will be tested through pilot projects in one primary school in Germany and Hungary, then in one secondary vocational school in Croatia and the Czech Republic, and on a representative sample of educators working with children and youth in Slovenia and Bulgaria. To support these activities, testing will be conducted in the countries of the Danube region such as Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The purpose of the testing is to receive feedback from the pupils and high school students for whom these training materials are intended. Based on the collected information and test results, recommendations and guidelines for policymakers related to media literacy education in primary, and secondary vocational schools will be created.

The Croatian Chamber of Economy is responsible for the implementation of the pilot project in Croatia in cooperation with the partners Presscut d.o.o. and Algebra University College. In Croatia, testing of educational materials for high school students will be conducted at the Health and Veterinary School Dr. Andrija Štampar in Vinkovci, which was selected through the open call for participation. The testing will be conducted according to the methodology defined by the Croatian Chamber of Economy in cooperation with the Metropolitan University Prague, which is responsible for testing the training materials in the Czech Republic.

The training materials will be available in Croatian on the project website. These are interactive presentations, which teach media literacy through six different topics with the help of the accompanying handbooks, in order to provide primary and secondary school students with knowledge and skills to understand the media and participate in a democratic society, including civil society and politics. The topics are:

• Behavior on social networks;
• Critical thinking skills;
• Marketing and advertising;
• News and hoaxes;
• Manipulation and propaganda;
• Politics.

Testing in the selected school in Croatia will be conducted at the beginning of the school year 2022/2023. The education for students will be held on media literacy according to the curriculum and with the help of materials created in the project. After the training, in the short questionnaire, the students will express their satisfaction with the educational materials and the training held, and evaluate the progress achieved by the training on the basis of self-assessment. Teachers will give their assessment of the media literacy curriculum created within the project and the training held and the educational materials used.

In the next period, the 5th SCOM meeting and the final conference will be held in Budapest, where the results of the project will be presented.

On the 10th of May 2022, the partner consortium held a workshop on the Sustainability of the MELIA Observatory, where project partners exchanged their ideas on how they see the future of this project after its completion. The ideas presented will be the basis for the Sustainability and transferability strategy document on the long-term exploitation of the observatory, which will include an action plan for the future development of the observatory as an important regional generator of positive change to strengthen media literacy and active citizenship, contributing to democratic development in the region.
