Layers of Life in Glass – An Artistic Expression by Silvije Vujčić

Each award we created incorporates elements derived from this regenerative production system. Using the concept of layering, Silvije Vujčić integrated materials such as textiles and technical felt into the glass elements of the award. In this way, what was once considered waste has become part of a unique work of art.

Layering is the central theme of this year’s award—from materials to concept, everything is connected to the idea that what once “dies” is reborn in another form. The artist further emphasized this principle of the circular economy in his film about the creation of the awards, where visual frames are layered one over another, just like the layers of glass within the awards.

From aluminum objects to new inspiration

This story of the circular economy began last year, when we found inspiration in six different aluminum objects collected from the CIOS Zagreb facility. Each of these objects carried its own symbolic and social value, and they became a key inspiration for this year’s award—providing yet another proof that every material holds the potential for a new life.

How the ESG Award is Made?

In our video, you will discover every step of this fascinating process—from collecting textiles to creating unique awards. This story of regeneration is not just art, but a message that sustainability and innovation can and must go hand in hand.

Through our video, you have the opportunity to witness the fascinating process behind the creation of the awards.

It all begins in Zabok, where Regeneracija transforms discarded clothing into useful materials:

  • First facility – waste clothing is shredded into smaller pieces.
  • Second facility – textile fragments are transformed into yarn, which is used to produce technical felt.
  • Third facility – carpets are produced, while fine wool fibers—waste from production—are returned into the cycle as part of felt production.

Once the materials go through this complex regeneration process, they become part of our awards, creating unique works of art that symbolize the circular economy.

Two awards incorporate recognizable elements of clothing, such as shirt collars from the facility. One award features a variety of shredded textile samples, machine-cut for regeneration purposes.

Two awards contain elements of technical felt—one made exclusively from colored yarn, while the other predominantly uses grey materials. The sixth award stands out visually with layers of red wool waste, creating a striking representation of the regeneration cycle.

Each award is proof that what was once waste can become a symbol of something new, reminding us that sustainability has no end—only endless opportunities for renewal.

The Croatian Chamber of Economy remains a leader in promoting sustainability, advancing a vision in which transformation in action is not just a theme, but a reality we live every day. This award is proof that innovation and sustainability are not the future, but the present that is shaping the world around us.
