CCE’s Affiliation of Family Tourism presented Croatian model of family tourism as the example of good practice, on the world’s leading travel trade show – ITB, held on March 9th in Berlin.

“Half of all accommodation units in the Republic of Croatia is from private accommodation, which has shown the growth rate of 25 percent in the last ten years”, said the director at the Tourism Sector at the CCE Leila Krešić-Jurić, adding that the family accommodation and related services make the annual income of 2 billion euros. She also stated that the last year’s family accommodation accounted for 35 percent of all overnight stays. The majority of the guests come from Germany.

The Affiliation’s president Nedjeljko Pinezić presented the impact of family tourism on the general Croatian economy. “Enabling the local population live their traditional life means maintaining the attractiveness of the local offer. It is the traditional living that attracts most of the tourists”, said Pinezić, explaining, in addition, that this is also the way to generate new employment.
